What We Do
The Center is a public service organization embedded at the University of Montana. It helps people solve tough public problems, make informed decisions, and implement solutions that foster livable communities, vibrant economies, and healthy landscapes.
Our staff and Fellows are recognized experts in facilitation, mediation, collaboration, and conflict resolution. They are also well known for their work in public lands policy, water law and policy, land-use planning, and cross-boundary resource management. As a team, we:
- Facilitate and mediate complex, multi-party dialogues on land, water, and related issues;
- Inform policy discussions by providing timely, decision-relevant research and analysis;
- Train future leaders through our unique Natural Resources Conflict Resolution Program; and
- Build and share knowledge to push the horizons of natural resources policy and collaborative governance.
